From a production date of May 1972, this E Series, 911T Targa has a 2.4L engine fitted to Mechanical Fuel Injection to produce an impressive 140 horsepower at 5600rpm. This USA model car is shown to be considered painted in Colour/Code 7410 (Sepia Brown) from the its listed Colour/Code 8810 (Metallic Silver), and still retains the original Black Leatherette and Corduroy interior. The car shows the single year ‘Oil Flap’ on the rear wing which Porsche removed due to being mistaken for fuel filling. The Certificate of Authenticity shows the car was originally supplied to Porsche Cars, New Orleans from new. The vehicle is factory optioned to Comfort Equipment, set apart by the gold plate make/model lettering on the rear engine hood, being supplied with Leather Steering Wheel, Instruments and Oil Tank like 911S, with factory additional options of 6×15″ Alloys, and handling Front and Rear Stabilisers a good worthwhile addition to this model year/type.
This car is offered to require sympathetic restoration and with some surface rust appearing noticeably on the upper part passenger’s door although not an unreasonable repair required. The vehicle shows and retains its original Matching Number engine 6123318 supplied from new and the troublesome Sportomatic Transmission has been replaced by a year correct manual transmission. Although this car today shows many years of warehouse storage it does show the full potential to restore and transform to an original, much in demand, early Long Wheel Base (LWB) Porsche. The D Series, 911T 1972, USA spec Porsche engine has a clear power increase performance over European models with the added mechanical Fuel Injection over the less powerful carburettor version, at the time the fuel grade at USA pumps had been reduced to counter huge rises in oil prices, Porsche considered the engine type needed a stronger fuel delivery to the engine to ensure adequate performance associated with their brand. The vehicle is currently located in our warehouse in Guernsey, we are happy to help with worldwide shipping, or short term owner’s risk storage free for the first six months and available to extend to a longer term if required.
