1968 Porsche 911 LHD Coupe

From a production date of September 1967, this A Series, 911 Coupe is an original USA, model year of 1968, the vehicle shows the rare marker lights, amber in front and red in the rear (1 year only) from this production year of only 473 vehicles. It is shown repainted to Colour/code 6838, black from its original Colour/Code 6807 (Sand), and still retains the original Beige Leatherette interior. This car is the last year of the Short Wheel Base, shows the first year of the updated black instrument dials from the first run A Series. The Letter of Origin shows the car was originally supplied to Porsche Cars Southeast, Jacksonville from new. The vehicle still shows the chosen factory extras, Rubber Buffers on Bumper Horns, and Koni Dampers supplied from new.

This car is completing a level of sympathetic restoration from us, the vehicle shows the original Matching Number engine to be 3080208 and Transmission 3280379 supplied with the vehicle from new. During warranty from new the engine case was replaced with 6390172 (1969 911S) and the transmission was upgraded to match. The transmission shows the original case number and the type is over stamped from 902/0 to 901/02. During 1968 the ‘S’ was not available in the USA and peak power output was reduced by an emission-regulated (air pump) – it was found that a handful of these cars overheated with Porsche offering a replacement 1969 ‘S’ spec Crank Case, on this vehicle the owner opted to match with the transmission being remade to 901/2 specification; the rest of the engine remains as original. From the car today showing many years of warehouse storage we have sympathetically tried to restore and transform to original, engine fully functional, replaced the Ansa sports exhaust to original, as well as a replacement fuel tank, carburettors are rebuilt, and fuel lines renewed where needed.

This vehicle is the last year of the much in demand, Short Wheel Base (SWB) Porsche, and we believe that it spent much of its life garaged on Long Island, New York. The vehicle is currently located in our warehouse in Guernsey, we are happy to help with worldwide shipping, or short term owner’s risk storage free for the first six months and available to extend to a longer term if required.
